Objects built by Merks receive awards of competition “The most energy efficient building in Latvia 2020”

In the competition “The most energy efficient building in Latvia 2020”, organized by the Ministry of Economics, the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Regional Development and magazine “Būvinženieris”, the building at Gaiļezera Street 9 of the new project “Merks Gaiļezera nami” won the 3rd place in the category “Most energy efficient apartment building – new building 2020”. In turn, Concert hall “Latvija” and Ventspils Secondary School of Music won the 1st place in nomination “The most energy efficient public building 2020”.

Residential project “Merks Gaiļezera nami” developed and built by “Merks” was also highly appraised last year, when the building at Gaiļezera Street 15 won the 2nd place.

Buildings in this project have 9 above-ground floors. External walls of the buildings are insulated with 210 mm stone wool, special attention is paid to the insulation of the enclosing structures (attic floor, basement, roof). Outer doors, windows, balconies ventilation systems have also been selected and developed to ensure high energy efficiency. The buildings have central heating and heat regulation depends on the outdoor air temperature, and it can be individually adjusted with thermostats. The data of energy certificate of Gaiļezera 9 building show that the adjusted heat energy consumption of the building for heating is 51.05 kWh/m2 per year, while for hot water heating it is 10.05 kWh/m2 per year. The building complies with class B energy efficiency.

In turn, the building of Concert hall “Latvija” and Ventspils Secondary School of Music is unique with the innovative solutions that used in it, which ensure low energy consumption with minimal greenhouse gas emissions. For example, hundreds of meters long ducts have been built for heating and cooling the air with ground temperature. A ventilation system is installed, the intensity of which is determined by the level of CO2 in the room. Special windows are selected, which, when opened, turn off operation of ventilation. The building is equipped with the latest climate and weather information systems, as well as light, blinds and other control systems.
