Merks and Merks mājas receive top industry awards

One of the major building industry events – Latvian Annual Building Awards 2022, including the category Building Engineer of the Year in Latvia, was held yesterday, 7 March. 123 submissions were received in 10 different categories and 40 best industry specialists were nominated.

“The past year has been busy and eventful. A number of important projects have been brought to completion and we are happy to see our work and dedication acknowledged by top professionals of the industry,” says Andris Bišmeistars, Member of the Board and Construction Director of Merks. “The key to Merks’ success, however, is our team. We are especially proud and thrilled for the multiple awards and the recognition of our colleagues in the Building Engineer of the Year in Latvia 2022 competition. The 1st place in the nomination Project Manager of the Year in Latvia is a special highlight that demonstrates the strength of our team.”

Awards received at Latvian Annual Building Awards 2022:

  • 2nd place in Production Facilities nomination: newly built Orkla biscuit and waffle factory
  • 3rd place in New Residential Buildings nomination: 2nd stage of Merks Viesturdārzs

Awards received at Building Engineer of the Year in Latvia 2022 competition:

  • 1st place in Project Manager 2022 nomination: Mihails Peščinskis
  • 2nd place in Young Specialist 2022 nomination: Raimonda Vutkēviča
  • 3rd place in Young Specialist 2022 nomination: Krišs Krūmiņš
  • 5 distinctions

Colleagues describe Mihails as an active contributor to the development of young building specialists – his sites are regularly attended by building students to obtain practical knowledge on-site. Mihails is a long-term member of the Merks team and multiple industry awards from projects he has worked on bear testimony to his dedication and immense working capacity. His strengths are the ability to find common ground and solutions in complex situations, as well as interpersonal skills and team spirit.

Meanwhile Raimonda has rapidly progressed on a professional level over the recent years, becoming an independent construction site manager from a junior works supervisor position. She achieves her goals with a sense of dedication and is not afraid to face challenging and complex tasks. Raimonda approaches each task with high level of attention to detail, giving a 200% confidence that the assignment will be successfully completed.

Krišs has been with Merks for 4 years now and has a very detail-oriented, nuanced and professional attitude and a very thorough understanding of the matter down to the minute details. He takes responsibility for the decisions, is able to defend the proposed solution and “digs deep”, which makes him the perfect fit for assignments requiring high level of accuracy. Colleagues speak of Krišs as a great teammate who is focused on cooperation and successful result.

Meanwhile Alisa Počujeva and Elizabete Džarcāne received distinctions in the Young Specialist 2022 category and Ivans Svirskis, Didzis Vīksne and Dmitrijs Dmitrijevs in the Construction Supervisor 2022 category.
